Horror Movies based On true stories On Netflix does attract a lot of mass appeals and thus Horror Movies which are based on true stories were a hit in the year 2017. There have been a lot of Horror movies based on true stories in 2018. Even Bollywood has some Horror movies based on True stories. But, it can be rightly said there has been no movie more horrific than the 2005 horror flick called the Amityville Horror according to everyone’s honest review.

Last year, when one of my friends asked another whether he could stand a horror movie marathon or not to which he replied that it was a just a task of one hand for him. Both of them sat for the challenge and the latter after just one movie got all frightened and actually had to be accompanied back home. So people, do not take horror flick challenges if you are not ready for them emotionally.

Let us start with our list of 11 Horror Movies Based On True Stories.

The Amityville Horror

The movie released in the year 2005 and was actually a box office hit. It was based on a novel which was published with the name The Amityville Horror: True Story in 1977. It was based on a true story where a 24-year-old man Ronald DeFeo killed all his family because he was hearing unusual voices at home. The year later, Lutze’s family came to live in the house and experienced heck lot of supernatural things.

Deranged

The movie was released in the year 1974 and was based on the life of a real notorious murderer known as Ed Gein, who is so obsessed with his mother that he keeps her corpse confined in his farm with decomposing bodies of his other victims too.

Eaten Alive

This American Horror movie released in the year 1977 and is believed to be a true story about a man named Joe Ball who murdered people mostly woman who were related to him either socially or professionally. He murdered them by feeding them to his pet alligators.

Entity

This American Horror movie was released in the year 1982 and was based on the true story of a woman named Doris Bither who was believed to be sexually assaulted by an invisible force.

The Possession

The movie was released in the year 2012 and was based on the true story of a box which was believed to have been possessed by a Jewish priest. The crew of the movie confessed that quite a few spooky things happened with them after wrapping up the movie.

Dead Ringers

The movie was released in the 1988 and was based on the true story of twin brothers who were gynecologists and worked in quite a reputed hospital. The story is quite nerve-racking as they used their twin identity to seduce other woman.

Mothman

The movie was released in the year 2002 and was based on the true stories of a red-eyed creature who was believed to be sighted in a town near West Virginia in the year 1960’s.

Annabelle

The movie was first released in the year 2014 and was an American supernatural horror movie. The movie was a based on the true story of a wooden doll which was possessed by the demonic creature. The doll is still present at a museum.

The Girl Next Door

The movie was released in the year 2007 and was based on the true story of a 16-year-old girl who was tortured and tormented by her caregiver and their neighbors just for the sake of entertainment in the year 1965.

The silence of lambs

This American horror film was released in the year 1991 and made much money as well as received many awards. The real-life crime story is based on the life of a FBI trainee.

The Conjuring

This American horror movie was released in the year 2013. The supernatural activities that are shown in the movie are actually based on the true experiences of the Perron family who lived in the Rhode Ireland.
