Sultan
Sultan is yet another crown stone to Anuskha’s collection of excellent performances. Sultan is an underdog tale about a wrestler. His journey from fit as a fiddle wrestler to a middle aged man with a paunch. It’s his journey against all odds to win his respect and lost love back. Anushka’s portrayal of an independent ambitious girl who does not hesitate to speak her heart out surely won a million hearts. Her performance is truly applaudable.
PK
Following Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Sharma’s stars shun bright and landed her a role in what was to be India’s highest grossing movie of all-time i.e. PK. Starring alongside the perfectionist Khan from Bollywood in Aamir Khan, even prior to the release of the movie when the pre-release photoshoots were being released of Khan and Sharma, it was adamant that this was going to be a life-changing movie for Anusha because 1) she was starring alongside Aamir Khan and 2) the movie was directed by legendary Rajkumar Hirani. As predicted, the movie won hearts all across the globe and is to this date the highest grosser in Indian cinema.

Dil Dhadkne Do
Directed by Zoya Akhtar, who made her bid back as a director after 4 years – last being her directorial venture in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Dil Dhadakne Do worked wonders with both the young gen and the middle aged class of the country and overseas Bollywood watching audiences. While it can be argued that Anushka’s role wasn’t the leading lady of the movie, a major chunk of the movie no doubt revolves around her character and her chemistry with Ranveer Singh is perhaps what guided the young age class to go and see the movie.

Ae Dil Hai Muskil
Probably to be regarded as Sharma’s strongest performance to date in terms of all her movies that are in the 100cr club, in this one – her role was the most detailed and one on which the movie relied heavily. Love, loss, tragedy, bubbly, heartbroken – the shades of her character in Ae Dil Hai Muskil were many and she carried them with perfection.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Forever to be known as the last Maestro touch from the great Bollywood director in Yash Chopra, JTHJ delivered at the box-office; courtesy of Shah Rukh’s solid performance and the way he carried himself throughout the movie. Not to mention, the famous “Challa song” that gave the movie it’s pre-release promotion without trying too hard. Anushka vs Katrina was hyped as a cat-fight with both of them starring in the movie but Sharma made amends in the short role that she had, shining in her portrayal of a journalist. While SRK deserves the credit for the success of the movie, Sharma gave a performance that gave her the much needed big break of her career and psychologically, Sharma was now a commercially accepted actress with JTHJ being her first 100 crore movie.

Working along-side leading Khans like Shah Rukh and Aamir has been a boost to her career and while the Khans often run away with all the popularity from the movie that they star in; primarily due to their impeccable screen presence as actors, Sharma has still managed to keep the audience interested in her performance and she has delivered alongside 2 Khans who can very easily make you nervous and shake you from giving your “A” game.
As it stands, Anushka Sharma has 4 of her movies in the 100 crore club. She truly is a leading lady that is not only hit as an actress but has the potential to attract audiences to the theater and therefore a commercially safe bet too; for the producers.
