Places to visit during monsoon

Lansdowne

Lansdowne is around 250 km or 7 hours drive from Delhi. This place is the headquarters of Garhwal rifle. During monsoon, the temperature decreases suddenly and one has to keep his warm clothes ready. Rains bring mist all around Lansdowne which spills through the Pine and Deodar trees. It is the best place to fill your lungs with fresh air on a monsoon weekend.

Ranikhet

Ranikhet is a Cantt Town in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. During monsoon, this place gets covered with lush green vegetation. The sight of  the green mountain seems as if they are freshly painted with greens.

Places to visit in October

Uttarkashi

Uttarkashi is situated on the banks of the Bhagirathi river. There are many temples and ashrams in the city. The city has a Nehru Mountaineering Institute, where you can learn basics of mountain climbing. There are hot water springs in the region of Gangnani. The origin of Gangotri and Yamunotri are at a distance of few hours from this place.

Munsiyari

Munsiyari is a hill town in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. This place is relatively less known, but it offers best trekking opportunities. You can go for trekking towards Khaliya Bugyal or simply enjoy the amazing views of the Himalayas. The people of the nearby Sarmoli village provide Homestay facilities.

Rishikesh

Rishikesh is a holy town, but now it is known as an adventure spot for River Rafting and Bungy Jumping enthusiasts. The best time to visit Rishikesh is from October to November. The place is less crowded this time, the temperature is moderate and you can get the best deals in hotels and adventure sports.

Places to visit in winters

Auli Joshimath

Winter is the time for snow sports and Auli is the best place for it in Uttarakhand. It is regarded as the best ski destination in India. It has Asia’s longest, 4 km long ropeway. The place is full of oak and pine trees. You can see snow-clad peaks of Nanda Devi and Mana Parvat.

Nainital

Nainital is known for its lake and natural beauty of the Himalayas. This is a favorite summer destination for north Indians, but believe me, during winters this place turns into heaven. Snow flakes falling from sky give a feeling of the dream world. If you are planning to visit Nainital during winter be cautious to carry enough warm wear during winters and make your own snowman.

Chopta valley

Chopta is located in Rudraprayag district at a distance of around 70 km from Rudraprayag city. It is also called the mini Switzerland of India.
