Being associated with the legendary actor and a larger than life figure that of “Rajnikanth” can be daunting, more so if that very relation is in the same profession as the maestro “Rajni”.

Rajnikanth is someone who is in the South Cinema considered as perhaps the most impeccable star with no other actor even touching his hands in the forte of “action-drama”. In a cinema scenario such as this, there’s one actor that has emerged not only as talented across genres but has made a name for himself distant from the existing popularity of his father in law, yes, you guessed it right. We’re talking about Dhanush, the kind-hearted, soft spoken and highly talented star of Indian cinema.

Happy Birthday Dhanush

Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja or just “Dhanush” as we know him, was born in the city of Chennai on July 28th, 1983. In the Tamil cinema, he’s not just known as an actor but also as a producer, lyricist and playback singer.

Dhanush’s father is a director and producer in the South industry and so is his brother. It was their motivation that led to Dhanush’ career choice in acting, going on to star in his first debut film “Thulluvadho Illamai”, directed by his father.

Dhanush studied at the Thai Sathiya Matriculation High School. It was in the year 2004 that Dhanush married the daughter of Rajnikanth, Aishwarya. The couple has 2 sons born in the year 2006 and 2010. He is also a strong supporter of going veg and is associated with the “PETA” organization. Dhanush aspired to be a chef but as it turns out, acting was in his destiny.

Loved by audience from the word go!

Upon making his debut, Dhanush got generally positive reviews from critics and went on to star in his 2nd film “Kandhal Kondein”, Dhanush played the role of a mentally disturbed youth – a portrayal quite mature for an actor whose only into his 2nd film in the industry but it was risks such as this that made him separate from any other tamil actor.
Dhanush has made over 25 tamil movies in a decade and has delivered stellar performances in movies like “Devathaiyai Kanden”, “Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam”, “Polladhavan” – the narrative of which was based on the highly acclaimed Italian classic “bicycle thieves”; it’s not surprising then to know that he’s an actor who has often found praise from the mouth of critics, for his wide variety of roles and willingness to be part of a “parallel cinema”.

It’s performances of this caliber that landed Dhanush a role in the Bollywood movie “Raanjhana”, which without doubt was a Dhanush’ show. The movie also saw him romancing Sonam Kapoor, who has an immensely charming effect on the silver screen and starring alongside her and still making an impact is something that is highly appreciable.

Raanjhana did well at the box office and landed Dhanush with the golden opportunity of working with Amitabh Bachchan in “Shamitabh”, which was directed by R.Balki and was highly praised by critics for it’s unique story but did not do well at the box office.

Dhanush rose to fame on the international level with his movie “3”, directed by his wife and the lead actress role played by Shrutti Hassan (daughter of Kamal Hassan). The movie did fine business on the box office but it was the song in the movie by the name “Kolaveri Di” that took the internet by storm and made Dhanush an international celebrity in no time. Talking about no time, did you know the song was written in less than 6 minutes!

We wish the Tamil superstar a very happy 32nd birthday on July 28th, 2016.
