Director duo Farhad-Sajid’s comedy film Housefull 3 has entered the coveted 100 crore club. The film which stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh , Abhishek Bachchan in the lead roles brought in 1.85 Cr more on Wednesday and the box office collections now stand at 101.50 Cr. Housefull 3, the third installment in the Housefull franchise, released on June 3. Although the film got negative reviews from various critics, the film became a hit with the audience. Word of mouth and presence of well-known actors like Akshay Kumar allowed Housefull 3 to remain on the top.
Housefull 3 Box Office Collections Overview
Eros international, one of the producers has officially announced that the movie has had a collection of over Rs 100.03 Cr (US dollar 15 million) in its opening weekend alone across the globe with the movie grossing almost Rs 27.01 Cr overseas and about Rs 73.02 Cr gross in India.
Akshay Kumar’s grand successes
This is year’s second film that has reached this mark and both the films starred Akshay Kumar. This shows that even though Akshay releases films at regular intervals, the superstar still manages to attract viewers easily. The superstar’s previous films like Rowdy Rathore, Housefull 2, Housefull and Airlift had entered the 100 Cr club prior to Housefull 3.
Housefull Franchisee Box Office Success
The Housefull film franchise is not only famous for its star value but also for its great recall value. The first installment Housefull had actors like Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Arjun Rampal, Jiah khan and Riteish Deshmukh and was released in 2010. The movie Housefull went on to become one of the highest-grossing films of the year that it was released and eventually paved the way for the second movie Housefull 2 which released in the year 2012 and now Housefull 3 has done the same.
Jacqueline Fernandez on Winning Spree
This is also the third film of actress Jacqueline Fernandez to reach the 100 Cr mark. Previously she had starred in three sequels which were Race 2, Murder 2 and Housefull 2. All these films turned out to be box office successes. Both Race 2 and Housefull were a huge success and entered the 100 crore club, making it to her list of successful films. Her latest film, Housefull 3 which is also a franchise film has already made it to the 100 Cr club thereby adding one more 100 Cr film to her list of successful films.
100 Crore Club: Next Movie To Enter This Club
Another film expected to enter this coveted club is Sultan. The movie led by superstar Salman khan and actress Anushka Sharma is expected to break all records and collection of Airlift and the current highest grosser Housefull 3. A total investment of 85-95 Cr has been made for this film and will be releasing in about 3800 and more screen theatres in India and about 900-950 screens abroad. This is bound to make the movie a success, not to forget it also has two successful actors-Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma as its leads.
