Lead actress Pooja Hegde made her acting debut with Mysskin’s Tamil film Mugamoodi which also starred Jiva.
When she was shooting for her second film, Oka Laila Kosam, which was her first film in Tollywood, she got her first Bollywood offer. She was selected as the lead when Mohanjo Daro’s director Ashutosh Gowariker’s wife, spotted her in an advertisement.
Her film Oka Laila Kosam did very well at the box office. The movie which released on October 16, 2014, earned her a lot of praise.
Ashutosh Gowariker has a string of successes
The director of the film, Ashutosh Gowariker made his directing debut with the 1993 film Pehla Nasha. His second movie was Baazi which released in the year 1995 starring Aamir Khan. Lagaan, the 2001 period epic movie was directed and produced by Ashutosh Gowariker. This also starred Aamir Khan. Lagaan, the story about a cricket match between Indian villagers and British officers in the 18th century was a box office and critical success. He directed another hit film Swadesh in 2004 which starred Shahrukh Khan in the lead role. Jodha Akbar which released in 2008 was another successful film and it starred Aishwariya Rai and Hrithik Roshan.
