Pro Kabaddi League is a professional Kabaddi league in India, in which professional Kabaddi players showcase their talent in the sport – playing for different franchises, each representing a city in India. There are a total of 8 franchises in the league.
The league began in 2014 and the year 2016 marks it’s return for the 4th season. All 3 concluded seasons have had 3 different winners – Jaipur (2014), U Mumbai (2015) and Patna (2016).
The 4th season is to be held from June 25 to July 31.
Auctions 2016
The auctions for the 4th season were held in Mumbai on May 13th, 96 players from a list of 198 players were bought by the franchises. The onus remains on creating a winning composition and of course retaining players which have become a brand in themselves for the team and the sponsors sponsoring these teams.
The biggest winner in the auction was defender Mohit Chillar, who is a clerk in North Western Railway; now sees his earnings jump massively, grabbed by Bengaluru Bulls for Rs53 lakh for the 4th season. The bid remained the highest of the day at the auction.
Each of the teams was allowed only to retain a maximum of 2 players in their team for the upcoming season, rest all went into the pool of auctions.

Retained players
With the limit of only being able to retain 2 players from the previous season, all the 8 franchises decided to retain their Indian talent. The retained players were:
Group A: Kashilling Adake (Raider, Dabang Delhi), Rahul Chaudhari (Raider, Telugu Titans), Manjeet Chillar (All rounder, Puneri Palton), Rishank Devadiga (Raider, U Mumba), Girish Maruti Ernak (Defender, Bengal Warriors), Sukesh Hegde (Raider, Telugu Titans), Deepak Niwas Hooda (All rounder, Puneri Palton), Anup Kumar (Raider, U Mumba), Pradeep Narwal (Raider, Patna Pirates), Rajesh Narwal (All rounder, Jaipur Pink Panthers), Nilesh Shinde (Defender, Bengal Warriors) and Jasvir Singh (Raider, Jaipur Pink Panthers).
Group B: Selvamani K (Raider, Dabang Delhi), Pawan Kumar (Raider, Bengaluru Bulls) and Rajesh Mondal (Raider, Patna Pirates).
Group C: Ashish Kumar (Defender, Bengaluru Bulls)
Each teams had the allocated budget of Rs2 cr for the auctions, deducted after retaining their set of 2 players.
