“Rustom” is based on a real life case of K. M. Nanavati v. State of Maharashtra

Akshay Kumar is all set to deliver yet another mind-blowing performance by getting inside the uniform and playing the role of a naval officer. ‘Rustom’, directed by Tinu Suresh Desai is going to hit the cinemas on 12th of August this year. The movie is inspired by true events and is based on the life of naval officer K.M. Nanavati. Apart from Akshay Kumar, the movie features Ileana D’Cruz and Esha Gupta in lead roles.

The cast and crew have a lot of hopes from the movie as audiences have loved Akshay Kumar portraying a real life role previously in the movie Airlift and the collections of the movie count a lot on the performance of Akshay Kumar.

Neeraj Pandey, the famed director of blockbusters like ‘Special 26’ and ‘Baby’ has produced the movie along with Aruna Bhatia, Nittin Keni, Akash Chawla and more and thus coming from the makers of such fine movies, audiences surely have a lot of expectations from Rustom and thus it is predicted that movie will have a more than decent opening at the box office.

The movie Rustom, however, clashes with one of the most anticipated movies of 2016, Mohenjo-Daro which features Hrithik Roshan who would be seen on big screen after a long time.

Mohenjo-Daro has been directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar who is renowned for making periodic movies. Also, there will be a fight for screens as both are big budget movies and would want to occupy more and more screens.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ was acclaimed by critics as well as being loved by the audience. The movie made a collection of 95 crores and missed the 100 crores mark by a little difference. However his other releases like Housefull 3, Airlift did a business of 120 crores and 112 crores respectively adding some names to his long list of hit movies. The filmmakers are expecting Rustom to perform the same at the box office.

A big factor in making Rustom earn well would be 15 August Holiday weekend

Rustom team is also expecting a higher number of audience to make it to the theatres due to the fact that 15 August is a holiday on behalf of independence day and since the movie has a patriotic background it can be said that the release has been planned quite well. The collection of the movie depends  on the opening weekend and since it is releasing before three day holidays, we are sure to see a good opening collection for the movie.

Tinu Suresh Desai would make a comeback

It will be interesting to see the collections of Rustom as Tinu Suresh Desai’s last directorial venture 1920: London did not go well at the box office and thus he would surely want to make a comeback with Rustom.

We would have to wait a little more time till we get to know exactly what the collection of ‘Rustom’ is and till that time we can only wish that like the past movies of Akshay Kumar, Rustom also makes it to the list of hit movies for this year.
