Okay, so how many of here are food lovers.? I guess most of you are. The traditional Sikh food that is made on the festival of Baisakhi is definitely a bunch. The most loved of them all is the Choley Bhature and a glass of fruit lassi. You cannot resist them at all. The festival of Baisakhi falls on the 14th April 2018 this year and it is a Saturday so this Baisakhi is definitely going to be the best one.

The Halwa or the Kadha prasad is cherished all over the world and the Langars ( community free of cost food service ) in the Gurdwaras are totally lip-smacking as well. People make Baisakhi sweet dishes on the Baisakhi day and offer to God first. These dishes are the most awaited part of the Baisakhi day.

Coconut Ladoo

The Coconut Ladoo is one of the special dishes which are made on Baisakhi and guess what they are amazingly easy to make. You will need some semolina, grated coconut, milkmaid and caster sugar. First, roast the Semolina till it turns golden brown. Then, add some grated coconut powder to the mixture and keep it aside. The caster sugar and milkmaid should be added to the mixture and make some Ladoo balls of this batter. Now, roll them in the grated sugar and refrigerate them.

Pindi Chana

You are going to need of a bunch of things to prepare the Pindi Chana which includes Tea leaves, , Cinnamon, Dried mango powder, Dhaniya powder, Green chilies, Bay leaves, Ajwain, Ginger, Cloves, Garlic Pods, Jeera powder, Pomegranate powder and bunch of Indian masalas. First, soak the Chanas overnight. Now, in a cloth put all the bay leaves, cloves, and green chilies and make a bundle. Now mix all the masalas and salt in a saucepan with the Chanas and boil in water. Saute ginger, ajwain and pour the Chanas. Cook over the low flame and garnish and serve.

Peele Chawal ( Yellow Rice)

This is a traditional Baisakhi dish made in every Punjabi household. First of all, wash the rice with plain water until they are free of filth. Now, pour some oil and saute onions, cloves, bay leaves, salt, black pepper, and turmeric etc and put the gas on sim. Now, pour the rice and water in the saucepan and let it sit for 20-25 minutes. Your Rice will be ready. Serve hot.

Lassi

The Lassi is the most loved beverage on the day of Baisakhi and guess what it is really beneficial for your health as well. You will need curd, water, cardamon powder, sugar, salt, Kesar and some ice cubes. To start with, you will have to add or blend an equal amount of curd and water. After that, add some sugar or salt according to your taste. Blend well. Garnish with cardamom powder or Kesar. Do not forget to add the ice cubes.

Dry Fruit Kheer

You will need some milk, sugar, a bunch of dry fruits that you like the most and saffron. If you are a beginner then you are also gonna need some help in making the Kheer. Boil milk, sugar and cardamon powder for five minutes. Add the water soaked dry fruits of your choice in milk and stir for 5 minutes. Do not leave the Kheer alone as you will have to keep on stirring it until it is ready. Garnish with almonds and pistachios. Serve the dry fruit Kheer hot.
