There was news about Deepika Padukone being associated with it, but Director Kabir Khan reiterated that he had never approached her. As per latest reports, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif are in the race for the leading lady’s role but an official announcement has yet to come. Like many of Salman Khan’s earlier movies, Tubelight too is slated for an Eid release in 2017. His previous movies like Kick, Bodyguard, Dabangg, Ek Tha Tiger and Wanted were also released on this auspicious day and has done some mind-boggling business at the box-office. Salman has almost made the EID release date his own and has seldom missed a “date” with this auspicious occasion.
Director Kabir Khan is definitely hot property after his previous association with Salman Khan in Bajrangi Bhaijaan broke all box office records worldwide. The filmmaker first made his mark with his movie “New York” with John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, and Neil Nitin Mukesh and followed it up with movies like Kabul Express and Phantom. Kabir’s movies have a common thread running through it and that is of having a political backdrop or event. Like WTC’s 9/11 attacks featured in “New York”, “Kabul Express” was about the strife-ridden Afghanistan while “Phantom” dealt with the Mumbai terrorist attacks.
Tubelight Story
As per reports, the Kabir Khan- Salman Khan Combination is all set to depict the Sino-Indian political background in “Tubelight” as a central character from this movie belongs to China. While the movie will have the usual Salman Khan theatrics which his fans all over the world love, it will also talk about a personal issue Salman’s character faces.
Reports also suggest that a major part of the movie will depict his journey from India to China as Salman undertakes a voyage of enlightenment. Director Kabir Khan said that while the movie would be high on the emotional content, he will infuse a lot of humour to give it a different flavour. The actor-director duo is willing to discover a hitherto unexplored space of humour and emotion.
