The origins of the World Teachers Day dates back to the year 1966 when the UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers was passed. The resolution was made to set benchmarks regarding the recruitment, salaries, working hours, career prospects and several other factors related to the teachers profession.
Eventually in the year 1997, the Resolution for Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel was adopted to make a progress in all the aspects all over the world. The first World Teachers Day was held in the year 1994 on October 5th. The convening partners of World Teachers Day are UNICEF, U.N.D.P, the International Labor Organization and the Education International.
