The Chosen is a multi-season drama about the life and ministry of Jesus, created and directed by Dallas Jenkins. Season 6 is the show’s penultimate season, and Season 7 is planned as the last. Because this post publishes before the premiere, every date below comes from Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios or 5&2 Studios announcements, and anything still unannounced is marked that way.
When does The Chosen Season 6 come out?
The Chosen Season 6 arrives on November 15, 2026, and six episodes stream by December 6. An Amazon MGM Studios press release dated October 15 confirms three episodes at launch, weekly episodes after that, and a film on March 12, 2027. Meanwhile, the show’s Season 6 page still says “Spring 2027” for the film, which fits the same date.
| Release | Date | Where | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Episodes 1, 2 and 3 | Sunday, November 15, 2026 | Prime Video | Confirmed |
| Episode 4 | Sunday, November 22, 2026 | Prime Video | Confirmed |
| Episode 5 | Sunday, November 29, 2026 | Prime Video | Confirmed |
| Episode 6 | Sunday, December 6, 2026 | Prime Video | Confirmed |
| Stand-alone finale film | Friday, March 12, 2027 | Theaters | Confirmed; ticket details not announced as of November 7, 2026 |
Episode titles are not listed on the official pages we could open, so we have left them out. We will add them once Prime Video posts them.
What time does The Chosen Season 6 drop in the US?
No official release hour has been published, as of November 7, 2026. One entertainment site, Castalkie, lists 12 a.m. Pacific and 3 a.m. Eastern, but another outlet reports that Prime Video has not announced an hour, and we could not confirm the time with Amazon. Therefore, treat those hours as unconfirmed, and plan on watching from Sunday morning instead of staying up late on Saturday night.
Watch out. Some sites say all six episodes arrive on November 15. The official schedule, repeated in Yahoo’s October 22 guide, releases only three that day.
How can you watch The Chosen Season 6?
You can watch The Chosen Season 6 only on Prime Video when the season launches. The press material also names Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America as Prime Video territories. It is not a Netflix release, so a Netflix plan will not help.
How much does it cost?
The cost starts at $8.99 a month for the Prime Video plan, or $14.99 with a full Prime membership. Amazon’s Prime Video overview confirms the Prime price, while the $8.99 standalone price comes from press coverage, since Amazon’s overview does not list it.
| Option | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Prime Video only | $8.99 a month, with ads | Viewers who want only the show |
| Amazon Prime, monthly | $14.99 a month, with ads | Shoppers who use shipping too |
| Amazon Prime, annual | $139 a year, with ads | Existing regular Prime users |
| Prime for Young Adults | 6-month trial, then $7.49 a month, per Yahoo | Ages 18 to 24 who qualify |
| Prime Video Ultra add-on | $4.99 more a month, removes most ads | Ad-averse viewers; adds 4K and Dolby Atmos |
Our math. Yahoo lists a 30-day Prime trial for new members. A trial started on November 15 would run until about December 15, past Episode 6. Alternatively, one $8.99 month started on December 6 covers all six streaming episodes in a binge. Both are our own arithmetic, so check your eligibility and cancel before renewal if you only want this season.
Is The Chosen Season 6 free anywhere?
No, The Chosen Season 6 has no free US option at launch, beyond any Prime trial you qualify for. Wikipedia’s account of the Amazon deal says episodes stay exclusive to Prime Video for 90 days before they can appear elsewhere for free, and CableTV.com expects the season to reach The Chosen app and BYUtv later. However, no date has been announced as of November 7, 2026. Counting 90 days from December 6 gives about March 6, 2027, and that date is only our estimate.
One more free route exists, but it is narrow. The Come and See Foundation offered US churches and parishes free, non-ticketed screenings of Episode 1 from September 15 to November 15, so ask your church whether one is planned. That offer covers only the first episode, and individuals cannot book it.
How do you catch up before Season 6?
Seasons 1 to 5 hold 40 episodes, and you can stream them on Prime Video or The Chosen app, according to the official site. They are also free on BYUtv, which may ask you to sign in. Episodes run from 20 to 100 minutes, so the full catch-up is a long project, and three weeks is a realistic pace rather than one weekend.
| Season | Episodes | What it covers (no twists) | Watch if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Season 1 | 8 | Jesus gathers his first disciples and begins his ministry | You are new to the show |
| Season 2 | 8 | The ministry spreads, building toward the Sermon on the Mount | You want character depth |
| Season 3 | 8 | Popularity draws opposition; the apostles go out in pairs | You like the ensemble |
| Season 4 | 8 | The last year of ministry, heading for Jerusalem | You are short on time |
| Season 5 | 8 | Holy Week in Jerusalem, through the Last Supper | Everyone; it leads directly into Season 6 |
Our catch-up rule depends on your time. With only a weekend, watch Season 5 alone, because Season 6 picks up from those events. With two weeks, add Season 4. Otherwise start at Season 1, because the show builds its characters slowly, and much of the emotional payoff depends on knowing them. Fortunately, the story itself is familiar to most viewers, so skipping seasons will not leave you lost.
What is The Chosen Season 6 about?
The Chosen Season 6 covers the final day of Jesus’s life, as the official synopsis puts it, “through the lives of those who love Him and those who condemn Him.” The official tagline reads, “The hour has come. Before the sun sets, Jesus will be dead.” Pharisees, Romans and followers each see the events differently, according to the studio’s release. We are stopping at that premise to avoid spoilers.
- Returning cast: Jonathan Roumie (Jesus), Shahar Isaac (Peter), Elizabeth Tabish (Mary Magdalene), Paras Patel (Matthew), Noah James (Andrew), George H. Xanthis (John), Vanessa Benavente (Mother Mary), Luke Dimyan (Judas), Richard Fancy (Caiaphas), Paul Ben-Victor (Herod), Andrew James Allen (Pilate)
- Creator: Dallas Jenkins, who said the story deserved a season of television and also a stand-alone theatrical event
- Who it suits: existing fans, faith-based viewers and anyone interested in historical drama
- Who should skip it, for now: viewers who want a light watch, and families with young children; the crucifixion is the subject, so check the rating on Prime Video before watching together
Why is the finale in theaters?
The finale is in theaters because the crucifixion story is being released as a feature film by Amazon MGM Studios. Deseret News reported the plan in May 2025, along with a Season 7 opening film about the resurrection on March 31, 2028. A streaming date for the Season 6 film has not been announced, as of November 7, 2026, so anyone wanting the ending in March should plan on a theater visit.
Our verdict
Choose Prime Video if you want The Chosen Season 6 as it airs. The cheapest paid route is the $8.99 Prime Video plan, and already having Prime means you pay nothing extra.
If you can wait, start with free Seasons 1 to 5 on BYUtv now, then watch for an announcement on the free app window. Either way, set aside March 12, 2027 for the theatrical ending, since streaming alone will not finish the season.
Frequently asked questions
Is The Chosen Season 6 out yet?
Not yet. The Chosen Season 6 premieres on Prime Video on Sunday, November 15, 2026, with three episodes. New episodes follow on November 22, November 29 and December 6. The stand-alone finale film then opens in theaters on March 12, 2027, according to Amazon MGM Studios and 5 and 2 Studios.
How many episodes are in The Chosen Season 6?
Six episodes stream on Prime Video, with three on November 15 and one each week through December 6. The season then ends with a separate stand-alone film in theaters on March 12, 2027. Earlier seasons each had eight episodes, so this season has a different structure than the first five.
Is The Chosen Season 6 on Netflix?
No. The Chosen Season 6 premieres exclusively on Prime Video, under the show’s deal with Amazon MGM Studios. A Netflix subscription will not include it. The first five seasons are on Prime Video, and they are also free on BYUtv, so you can catch up without paying anything for a Netflix plan.
Can I watch The Chosen Season 6 for free?
Not at launch, unless you qualify for a Prime free trial. Reports on the Amazon deal describe a 90-day Prime Video exclusive before free availability elsewhere. However, no date for The Chosen app or BYUtv has been announced as of November 7, 2026, so any early-2027 date remains an estimate.
Will The Chosen Season 6 be in theaters?
Yes, but only the ending. The stand-alone finale film opens exclusively in theaters on March 12, 2027, from Amazon MGM Studios. The six earlier episodes stream on Prime Video first. Some churches also hosted early screenings of Episode 1, but those were private events rather than public theatrical showings.
Do I need to watch earlier seasons before Season 6?
You do not strictly need them, because the story of Jesus’s final day is familiar to many viewers. Still, Season 5 leads directly into Season 6 and is the best single catch-up. Newer viewers who have time should begin with Season 1, since the characters and relationships build gradually.
