Befikre hit screens on 9th November 2016. Aditya Chopra has portrayed a different take on love with Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor in pretty locales of Paris.
Review of Befikre, the film (2016)
Why it was good
For the audience that does not believe in dancing around trees to be the modern love, Befikre is a good watch. It is a light-hearted romantic comedy where Dharam and Shyra will take you through beautiful locations.
Why it was bad
Aditya Chopra wanted to portray the modern take on love and romance, but maybe not everyone would agree with his point of view.
Actor performances
Really good! Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor both have done an excellent job. They played their characters fully well. There were no forced dialoguebaazis per se, or overacting.
Who should watch it
Rom com lovers should go for it.

Aditya Chopra is known for his previous hits including Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Many DDLJ fans were a tad disappointed with Befikre (although they knew what was coming with trailer) as it is quite different to what he has done before. Of course the central theme of the movie was love, romance between the lead pair, self discovery through love.
Soundtrack
Music of the film has been applauded. Its tracks Nashe Si Chadh Gayi, and Ude Dil Befikre have topped music charts since its release.
In the movie also the songs play an important role in adding colour.
Box Office Predictions
Befikre is neither a sure-shot success, nor a given fail. A lot depends on how the audience receives the film.
Both the lead actors – Ranveer and Vaani – have a fan following of their own. If the first day first show goers give good word of mouth publicity, there are chances of the movie doing a good 2 digit crore weekend.
Competition
Befikre is the single mainstream movie releasing in most theaters. Earlier release Ae Dil Hai Mushkil with Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Anushka Sharma, Fawad Khan is still running in many movie halls. Those who have not yet watched Ae Dil Hai Mushkil may chose to go for that over Befikre as the previous one has had good reviews so far.
Kissing scenes in Befikre: Our take
All in all it is a good movie. Cinema has always been about depiction of various stories and emotions. There is no reason why Befikre should be deemed “good” or “bad” based on moral policing grounds of the film having as many as 23 kissing scenes. According to viewers, the scenes in question were neither sexually explicit nor embarrassing for families who watched the movie together. They were just there, fleetingly or otherwise, as a part of the film.
It is the art, story, performance, and ultimately what the movie Befikre makes us feel at the end of it that matters, and not the kissing scenes.
Final verdict: Befikre Movie Review
It is a good movie. You can watch it as a one time watch. Feel good, feel warm; go watch Dharam and Shyra discover wild and carefree love.
