Burkha- A Metaphor For Morality
The term ‘Burkha’ in the movie title is a metaphor for morality imposed on women in our society. Ours is a patriarchal society and since ages rules are being forced on women to control their lives. They are not allowed to speak their mind and discuss their desires out in the open. Those expressing their sexual desire or showing interest towards it is considered a taboo in society. The trailer demonstrates how women are sneaking out of their moral burkha, taking control of their lives and fulfilling their desires by going against the expectation of hypocritical society.
Small Town Dynamics
The film demonstrates the lifestyle of women residing in a small town and how they are expected to live within the social boundaries. People always judge them for the move they make, clothes they wear, the way they behave, etc. In the movie, a small town college girl is aspiring to be a pop singer, face a lot of problems. Their families don’t approve of such careers that could take them to places and give the freedom to explore. Or a widow from a small town is never supposed to express her sexual desires just because her husband is no more to fulfil them.
