The short answer
The Roblox gift card redeem page is roblox.com/redeem: log in to the right account in a web browser, type the code, and click Redeem. Roblox does not let you redeem on consoles or in the standard phone app, and any “free Robux” offer is a scam.
- Phone: open a browser such as Safari or Chrome; only the Roblox app on Samsung Galaxy devices can redeem directly
- PC or Mac: use roblox.com/redeem in any browser
- PlayStation, Xbox: no console redemption, so use a browser on another device
- After redeeming: most cards add Roblox Credit, which you then spend on Robux or Roblox Plus in a browser
- Code failing: check typos, the logged-in account, and card activation; then contact Roblox Support with the receipt
- Free Robux: Roblox says “codes for free Robux do not exist”

Roblox is an online game platform where players spend Robux, its virtual currency, on avatar items and in-game upgrades. A Roblox gift card is a prepaid code for that spending, and it confuses many buyers because most cards add Roblox Credit rather than Robux. This guide is for players and the parents buying these cards, based on Roblox’s published help pages and FTC guidance.
How does the Roblox gift card redeem process work?
A Roblox gift card redeem takes about a minute and happens in a web browser. Roblox’s gift card help article names roblox.com/redeem as the standard route on every device. Scratch off the card gently, then follow the same four steps on any device.
Roblox gift card redeem steps
- Open a browser and go to roblox.com/redeem. Type the address yourself instead of following a link from a message.
- Log in to the account that should receive the value. On a family computer, this step matters most, so check the username first.
- Enter the code, also called the PIN, and click Redeem. Enter multiple cards one at a time.
- Wait for the confirmation message. Then spend the Credit in the browser, because Roblox says Credit cannot be used inside its apps.
| Device | Can you redeem there? | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Windows PC or Mac | Yes | Use roblox.com/redeem in any browser |
| iPhone or iPad | Browser only | Open Safari or another browser, not the Roblox app |
| Android phone or tablet | Browser only | Open Chrome or another browser, not the Roblox app |
| Samsung Galaxy | Yes, in the app or browser | Samsung is the one app exception Roblox lists |
| PlayStation | No | Redeem in a computer browser, as the PlayStation FAQ advises |
| Xbox | No | Roblox says consoles cannot redeem, so use a browser elsewhere |
How do you use a gift card balance on a console?
First redeem in a browser on a phone or computer, then convert the Credit to Robux in that browser. Roblox’s PlayStation FAQ says an existing Robux balance on your account can be used on PlayStation. However, Roblox Credit itself stays browser-only, so a console player who skips the conversion step will see no change. The help pages we could read do not spell this out for Xbox, so sign in with the same account and check the Robux balance there.
Parent tip. Log in with your child’s account, not yours. Roblox’s retail code page says Robux go to whichever account is logged in when the code is redeemed, and Roblox says a card cannot be split.
Why doesn’t my Roblox gift card code work?
A Roblox gift card code usually fails because of a typing error, the wrong redemption location, or a code already used on another account.
| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Invalid code | Typo, extra space, or look-alike characters such as O and 0 | Retype every character slowly at roblox.com/redeem |
| Nothing happens in the app | Wrong location | Switch to a browser, unless you are on a Samsung Galaxy device |
| Already redeemed | Code used on another account | Check every account your family uses, then contact Roblox Support |
| Redeemed but no Robux | Value arrived as Credit | Look on the purchasing or settings pages, then buy Robux in a browser |
| Invalid on a new store card | Card possibly not activated at the register (third-party guides, not Roblox) | Take the card and receipt back to the store |
| Invalid on a card bought abroad | Possible country or currency mismatch (user reports, not an official policy) | Contact Roblox Support with proof of purchase |
| Damaged or unreadable code | Scratched too hard | Contact Roblox Support with the card details and receipt |
When self-help fails, go to Roblox Support and bring evidence. Roblox’s Retail Codes page says to include the receipt and code if the package was still sealed when you bought it. Similarly, the Virtual Items page asks for the PIN, serial number, store, city, purchase date and amount, followed by a photo of the receipt. Roblox’s US card terms say cards are not refundable or exchangeable for cash unless the law requires it, so keep the receipt until the balance appears.
What can you buy with a Roblox gift card?
A Roblox gift card buys Robux or a Roblox Plus subscription, and Robux then buys avatar clothing, accessories, in-game items and upgrades. It cannot buy anything outside Roblox. Roblox’s gift card page also warns buyers not to treat a card as payment for non-Roblox items.
Roblox Credit: best for flexibility
Most retail and digital cards add Credit, so you choose Robux or Roblox Plus afterward. Credit works only in a browser.
- Limit: you cannot split one purchase between Credit and another payment type, according to Roblox’s Credit help page
- Bonus: up to 25% more Robux than purchases on other platforms; a $10 card can yield 1,000 Robux (800 plus 200 bonus)
- Free item: one virtual item per month, per account, from eligible cards
Robux-only codes: best for quick spending
Amazon digital codes, Party Pack codes and Mini Pack codes convert directly to Robux and skip Credit. Consequently, they cannot pay for Roblox Plus.
- Party Pack: 25 cards at 200 Robux each, for party favors
- Mini Pack: 40 coins at 50 Robux each, sold at Target when checked
- Free item: Party Packs and Mini Packs do not include one
Roblox Plus is the subscription that replaced new Roblox Premium sign-ups. Roblox’s April 2026 announcement prices it at $4.99 a month, with a 10% discount on in-game and avatar purchases that rises to 20% from the third straight month. Optional Plus bundles add 500, 1,000 or 2,000 Robux monthly. For a one-off gift, pick Robux, because a subscription keeps needing funds after the card runs out.
How much Robux is a gift card worth?
Roblox publishes one clear example: a $10 card can return 1,000 Robux. Roblox sells cards from $10 to $500, but the page text we read does not list Robux for every value, so check the amount printed on the card or the gift card page before buying.
Where can you buy a Roblox gift card?
Buy from Roblox itself or a major retailer. Roblox lists Albertsons, Amazon, CVS, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Kroger, Target, Walgreens and Walmart, though availability varies by region. Direct online buyers also get an emailed code for one bonus item per month.
- Physical card: best for wrapping; check that the packaging is sealed, and keep the receipt
- Digital card: best for last-minute gifts; most arrive immediately by email, though some take up to 24 hours
- Skip resale sites: Roblox’s US terms prohibit reselling cards and say Roblox is not responsible for lost or stolen cards, so a bad code from a reseller may leave you with no remedy
Is free Robux real?
No. “Free Robux” codes, generators and giveaways are scams, and Roblox says so directly. Its fraud page states, “There are no sanctioned offerings of free Robux,” while its help article on generators says these offers aim to take your account along with its Robux and items.
How do free Robux scams work?
- Generators and “just enter your username” sites: these ask for login details or personal information, and they never deliver Robux
- Fake giveaways: posts, streams and messages promise codes in exchange for clicks, follows or sign-ups
- Fake staff: someone claims to be a Roblox admin; Roblox says it never asks for your password outside its login page
- Off-platform links: another player sends a link away from Roblox, which Roblox treats as spam or phishing
- Side deals: trades outside official features, where Roblox says it cannot help recover items or compensation
Watch out. If anyone tells you to pay a fee, a fine or a prize charge with a Roblox card, stop. The FTC says scammers create urgency, name the card brand and store, and then ask for the number and PIN. Treat a shared code as spent cash.
What should you do if you got caught?
Act the same day, because recovery depends on speed. Roblox’s hacked account article sets a 30-day window for contacting support and warns that lost items or currency may not come back.
- Run a security scan if you downloaded anything, since Roblox says to remove malware before recovering an account.
- Change the Roblox password, change it anywhere else you reused it, and turn on 2-Step Verification.
- Locked out? Contact Roblox using the first email added to the account or the billing email from the first payment.
- Gave away a gift card code? Call the issuer, ask for a refund, and keep the card and receipt, as the FTC advises.
- Entered bank or card details? Contact the bank or card issuer immediately and ask to reverse the charge.
- Report the scam at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and report the user inside Roblox. If a Social Security number was exposed, use IdentityTheft.gov.
The FTC’s scam recovery checklist covers each situation above in more detail.
What are the official ways to get Robux?
Robux officially comes from purchases or from creator earnings. Roblox’s Ways to Get Robux article lists no free route, so each option below involves money or real work.
| Method | Who it suits | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Gift card in a browser | Gifts, and players without a bank card | Up to 25% more Robux |
| Web or computer purchase | Adults paying directly | Same bonus range as gift cards |
| Mobile, PlayStation or Xbox app | Convenience | Usually fewer Robux per dollar than web, per Roblox’s bonus wording |
| Roblox Plus bundles | Regular players | Recurring monthly charge |
| Selling items or building experiences | Creators | Eligible creators can convert earnings through the Developer Exchange |
We could not find a current Roblox or Microsoft page confirming Robux through Microsoft Rewards, despite how often people search for it. So ignore any third-party page that promises a Rewards shortcut.
What should parents know before buying one?
A gift card is a good spending cap, but it sits outside Roblox’s parental limits. Roblox’s Monthly Spending Limits page says limits do not affect gift card redemption, and they also stop applying when a child turns 13. Therefore a card is safer than a saved payment method, though you should still set up the controls.
- Set a limit: link a parent account, then go to Settings, Parental Controls and Spending restrictions; choose an amount from 0 to 10,000 in local currency
- Turn on alerts: Roblox will not notify you when a limit is reached, but it can notify you about every transaction
- Consoles: Roblox says limits may not apply there, so set one on the device too
- Terms: if the user is under 18, a parent or guardian agrees to the card terms on the child’s behalf
Our verdict
A smooth Roblox gift card redeem comes down to one sequence: use a browser, log in to the correct account, then turn Credit into Robux before you open the game.
Buy from Roblox or a listed retailer, keep the receipt, and treat every free Robux promise as a scam. For ideas on where to spend the balance, see our best Roblox games and best Roblox horror games.
Frequently asked questions
Can you redeem a Roblox gift card in the app?
Mostly no. Roblox says redemption is not available in the standard mobile app, and the only exception it lists is the Roblox app on Samsung Galaxy devices. iPhone, iPad and other Android users should open a web browser, go to roblox.com/redeem, log in, enter the code and then click Redeem.
Can you redeem a Roblox gift card on Xbox or PS5?
No. Roblox says redemption is not available on consoles, and its PlayStation FAQ tells players to use a computer browser. Redeem at roblox.com/redeem, convert the Roblox Credit to Robux in that browser, and then check the balance on the console using the same account.
Why did my Roblox gift card give me credit instead of Robux?
Most Roblox gift cards add Roblox Credit by design, which you can spend on Robux or a Roblox Plus subscription. Spend the Credit in a web browser, since it does not work inside Roblox apps. Amazon digital codes, Party Pack codes and Mini Pack codes go straight to Robux instead.
Do Roblox gift cards expire?
No. Roblox says its gift cards do not expire, so a card saved for a birthday stays usable. However, you cannot split one card across accounts, and Roblox is not responsible for a lost or stolen card. Keep the receipt and redeem the code on the right account soon.
Are free Robux codes real?
No. Roblox says codes for free Robux do not exist, and its fraud page says there are no sanctioned offerings of free Robux. Sites and videos promising them usually want your password, personal details or clicks. Close the page, never share login details, and report the user who sent the offer.
How do I check my Roblox gift card balance?
Redeem the card first, then look for the Credit balance in a browser. Roblox says that balance generally appears on its purchasing and settings pages. A card that was already redeemed may show up on another family account, so check those accounts before you contact Roblox Support with a receipt.
