A picture is worth a thousand words. A video is worth a million.
“Lathmar” translates to “hitting with sticks”, and “holi” is the name of a popular Indian festival. Lathmar holi is that form of holi festival celebration in which people beat each other with sticks.
Lathmar holi 2022 is celebrated in Barsana and Nandgaon, near Mathura. There is a story behind this celebration. It goes like this:
Once upon a time, Lord Krishna (eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu), visited Barsana and teased Radha. Radha’s friends were not too pleased by this and chased him away with sticks.
To commemorate this day in life of Lord Krishna, men go from Nandgaon to Barsana where women beat them with sticks. This day is thus celebrated as Lathmar holi.
Lathmar Holi 2022 cannot be just explained in words. You have to see it to believe it.
