What do you do when your hope withers in the times of despair? Who do you look up to when your world begins to unsettle? Who’s smile triumphs the corner of your hearts? Who is that lady that calls you every single day just to ensure you are doing well? Mother, who is a guiding light in your barren world, is the one who deserves the momentum of honor. I’m sure your mother truly deserves every inch of recognition for everything she does. The appreciation of Motherhood is invaluable from shepherding children and evolving them as an individual to looking after the needs of the family, is solely done by mothers.
“I am sure that if the mothers of various nations could meet, there would be no more wars” – E.M. Foster
A nationwide acclaimed day for honoring the eternal beauty of our lives- Mothers are an indispensable part of our lives. Our forever companions in every walk of our life love us beyond measure. She goes an extra mile to work out things for us. This Mother’s day raise the bar high and cherish her imperative presence in your lives, had she not been a guiding star, we would have been lost in the herds of troubles.
The modern holiday of Mother’s day was first celebrated in 1908 when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her beloved mother at St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia which now holds the International Mother’s Day Shrine. Our gesture to make her feel important may not justice her invaluable services advanced for us but surely can lit a smile on her face.
For honoring mothers, children around the world makes a special effort of making cute greeting cards, sending bouquets and giving them gifts. The “Flower of the gods”, Orchids are presented to mothers as they are our true incarnation of God which came to us as a blessing in disguise. Most commonly, White carnations hold significant importance as it symbolizes pure love, innocence, and loveliness. Just as the mother’s grandeur is majestic and enchanting, Orchids heralds as a true form of pure love, loveliness, and beauty that is the mother to us, blossoming with her ferns spread in the vicinity in our lives. Anna Jarvis held a memorial ceremony where hundreds of Orchards were given as a token of respect. She values the symbolism of white carnation emblem as :
“ Its whiteness is to symbolize the truth, purity and broad chastity of mother love; its fragrance, her memory, and her prayers. The carnation does not drop its petals but hugs them to its heart as it dies, and so, to mothers hug their children to their hearts, their mother love never dies.”
Lilies and purple irises are also among the favorite choices for mothers, symbolizing faith and hope.
And there are those kick-ass mothers who raise their children without the dichotomy of a man. Their perspective of raising them by adapting the bold-brazen attitude of a father, earning enough to feed their children and being their idol man in a woman is truly a job. Women, unconditionally love their children ensure no obstacle ever come in the way of their children.
